State's Economy Program

Development of environmentally friendly gas-insulated high-voltage transformers (>=420 kV) with funding from the State's Economy Programs.

The insulating gas SF6, which has been used in high-voltage transformers up to now, is the gas with the greatest known global warming potential. The aim of the development is to eliminate completely SF6 gas from Pfiffner Deutschland GmbH's products and to replace it with an insulating gas owing a very low GWP.

The business field of Pfiffner Deutschland GmbH in Itzehoe is exclusively in the field of extra-high voltage. Voltage -, current and combined transformers in the 420 kV voltage class are Pfiffner Deutschland’s most important product.

In summer 2020 Pfiffner Germany applied for financial support of this development at the State’s Economy Programs provided by the European Commission. We are very happy that this funding application has been approved and we are able to benefit from a substantial financial support for this important development.

The development project contributes significantly to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and will support the achievement of global climate protection goals.
