The mobile RC divider

Resistive capacitive voltage dividers such as the mineral-oil-impregnated voltage divider for outdoor use ROF are deployed in high-voltage switchgear from 72.5 to 550 kV. They divide the primary voltage with high accuracy into a standardised, equivalent secondary voltage in a direct-current frequency range that stretches up to the high kilohertz region. The issue of power quality is thus gaining increased significance, while a knowledge of the current state of the network can help to prevent the system components installed from early ageing.

This three-phase RC divider measurement system can be used in multiple locations, both rapidly and with a high degree of flexibility and without the need for any heavy equipment such as cranes or platforms. This means that the system can be started up within one working day, enabling that the system switch-off time can be kept to a minimum.

The system consists of a steel frame fitted with three RC dividers plus a switch cabinet, which allows a remote PQ measurement system to be integrated directly. Its compact design enables it to be folded up and transported to its installation location in a standard trailer. Once there, the frame is easily removed from the trailer using supports and anchored to the ground with guy ropes. It takes about 30 seconds to set up the RC dividers with the help of the integrated hydraulic power unit. All that remains now is to connect the system to the high-voltage overhead line and it is ready for use..
