We shape the future

The FHNW School of Engineering, the PFIFFNER Group and Brugg Cables have signed a cooperation agreement.

The cooperation aims to strengthen the collaboration between industry and universities through concrete activities and to produce innovative solutions through interdisciplinary teams. The focal points of the cooperation are:

  • Talent promotion and training of skilled workers
  • Innovation promotion
  • Positioning the field and the network of experts.

A first action to counteract the shortage of skilled workers is that PFIFFNER Instrument Transformers and Brugg Cables offer internships for high school graduates who want to get started with dual studies at the FHNW in electrical and information technology, energy and environmental technology or mechanical engineering.

The practice-integrated bachelor's degree (PiBS) was launched as part of a package of measures to combat the shortage of skilled workers in the MINT sector (mathematics, information technology, natural sciences and technology).

The PiBS is a dual education program: Students attend the study modules at the FHNW and work 40% at a partner company from industry and business. To do this, they either divide the week into study and internship days or study in phases in the full-time model and spend longer practical phases at the company. The study content is the same as in a three-year full-time program.

We will provide further details of the cooperation in the future.
